Adult Upgrading
FREE Adult Learning Classes offered:
If you are 19 years of age or older and interested in improving your reading, writing, and /or math skills; preparing for the GED; or working toward your own personal goals, register now.
Daytime and evening programs are available.
Learners can start at anytime. Everyone works at his/her own pace with the help of a qualified instructor.

Provincial Volunteer Week Recognition 2012
April 15-21 is Provincial Volunteer Week in Nova Scotia. The Town of Port Hawkesbury will honour their representative Volunteer on Thursday, April 14, 2012 at an Awards Ceremony in Halifax.
To nominate a volunteer for consideration for this Provincial recognition, please submit their name by February 24th to the Port Hawkesbury Recreation Department. Nomination forms are available on line at www.townofporthawkesbury.ca and at the Civic Centre box office. For further information please call 625-2591.
Walking Track
The Centre walking track is located on the second floor above the ice surface; it is a great way to keep active during the rainy weather or the winter months. There is no charge to use the track.
Canadian Tire Jumpstart Program
Canadian Tire believes that all kids should have the chance to run, play and grow. That's why they created Canadian Tire Jumpstart; a community based charitable program for families that help kids in need participate in organized sports and recreational activities like swimming, sating, etc. Is lack of money stopping you from enrolling your child in one of the many recreation or sports programs? If so, contact the Port Hawkesbury Recreation Department at 625-7898 to discuss a solution.
Racquetball Courts
Court memberships are available as well as day passes and walk in fees. For more information contact the Recreation Department or the YMCA for bookings, rules, etc. You can also book the racquetball courts for birthday parties by calling 625-4600.
